Social media ruling – Twitter messages are not private

The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) has issued the first formal ruling on the subject of social media and the privacy expectations of users.
They held that material published on Twitter should be considered “public” and that the person “tweeting” has no right of privacy in respect of the tweets.
