Hillyer McKeown rise to the challenge for Countess charity
When the Countess charity approached Hillyer McKeown about supporting the challenge, the answer was ‘yes, of course’. Within a week, three brave teams had come forward to take part on 24th March 2018, committed to raising the £1500 target (£500 each team).
Elspeth from the Countess commented:
Huge thank you in advance to all those that support us, and we’ll do our best to get photos and videos to you all of the day.
When asked why he’s taking part Craig, from the accounts department at Hillyer McKeown shared his story:
Having worked in Chester for over three years, I think it’s very important on a personal and business level to support your local community. We spend our time working in Chester, have clients here and want the area to thrive in general.
I feel supporting the Countess charity is especially important; it is our local hospital for both myself and our staff so we feel the challenge is a fun way to help.
The charity recognises that trips to hospital can be daunting for patients and wants to make them feel as comfortable as possible, and give them the care and attention needed to help them. Our team taking the challenge also feel it’s a great local cause – one of the group goes regularly so feels quite strongly about supporting the hospital that has looked after them and their family.
The Countess has many other great initiatives like the Babygrow appeal which has hit the target to build a brilliant neonatal unit to provide the best possible care for babies.
Recently, the charity also had a campaign providing safe and comfortable slippers for patients who haven’t got any. Personally as someone who spent a lot of time visiting poorly grandparents in hospital I think this is a nice touch and will be greatly appreciated by those who benefit.
These are other examples of how hard the charity works to benefit the community, and I am proud to be part of that.
Ellie, another team member summed it up:
I’m particularly looking forward to the Segway Ice Bucket Challenge – I have never set foot on one before so no doubt I will end up falling over!
