Meet Angharad Williams, Hillyer McKeown Trainee Solicitor
Since joining Hillyer McKeown in 2017, I have regularly been engaging with businesses operating in a variety of sectors to provide advice and assistance on a number of employment and HR-related matters. My experience includes:
- Drafting and advising on employee contracts and staff handbooks.
- Advising through employee disciplinary, grievance and poor performance procedures.
- Assisting with a number of day-to-day HR processes and procedures such as changing the terms and conditions of staff and flexible working arrangements.
- Drafting, advising and negotiating on settlement agreements
- Assisting the wider employment team with the preparation of Tribunal claims.
I am also experienced in advising on the employment and HR implications of the recent European-wide data protection legislation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including assistance in updating documentation and providing practical tips for effectively dealing with this topic.
I regularly take part in presentations on behalf of the employment department and the firm on the topics of employment law and GDPR.
I thoroughly enjoy working with the team and particularly working together with other departments in the firm and also value seeing how different areas of the law interconnect. I enjoy advising clients and getting to know their businesses and their ethos / values.
Progressing my career
Having graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2015 with a LLB in Law, I had a week’s work experience at Hillyer McKeown before joining the team.
I am currently undertaking part-time study to complete my Legal Practice Course (LPC) and MSc in Law, Business and Management with the eventual aim of qualifying as a solicitor.
I am a fluent Welsh speaker and happy to take instructions in both English and Welsh.
Rwy’n rhugl yn y Gymraeg ac yn hapus i drafod materion yn Gymraeg neu yn Saesneg.
Outside of work
In my spare time I enjoy socialising and catching up with family and friends, as well as participating in dance classes and can often be found back in my hometown in North Wales supporting the local Welsh rugby premiership team. I also enjoy travelling, and my current aim is to visit as many European cities as possible.
What clients say
“I engaged Hillyer McKeown when I was in the unfortunate position of being forced out of my employment by fairly underhand means.
Justine Watkinson and Angharad Williams took on my case, and after reviewing the background, they were able to confidently advise that I had cause to challenge the meager settlement offered to me by the company and push for a more substantial package. Negotiations were handled swiftly and expertly, against a backdrop of aggressive deadlines set by my employer, with Justine and Angharad putting in extra time to keep everything on track.
Their expert advice and negotiation skills resulted in me receiving a vastly superior settlement agreement and significantly improved terms. This has alleviated the stress I was experiencing, whilst also protecting my family’s interests as I seek alternative employment.
I cannot recommend Hillyer McKeown highly enough – specifically Justine and Angharad, for the calm and efficient manner in which they handled my case, and for the outstanding result they obtained on my behalf.” Employment Law Client
