Lauren Swanick, Hillyer McKeown Corporate Paralegal

I enjoy assisting the corporate team on deals and get real insight to the processes that are used in the buying and selling of a company. Each day in the department is different but my regular tasks include:

  • carrying out due diligence
  • drafting and amending documents
  • attending conference calls with clients.

In my position I am surrounded by a great team of solicitors with a wealth of knowledge who have no problem answering every one of my questions. As a result of this, I enjoy coming in to the office every day knowing that I am going to learn something new.

Prior to working at Hillyer McKeown, I worked part time in a high street firm whilst studying for my Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Msc in Law, Business and Management. My position as a legal assistant meant the majority of my time was spent dealing with clients to ensure they received the highest level of care. Dealing with clients directly has developed my communication skills and I am now confident speaking in any situation, and to people at all levels in a company.

I graduated from the LPC with Msc in Law, Business and Management, emphasising commercial and corporate law.

Also, I studied European and International Law at the University of Sheffield, and took part in an exchange where I studied law in the USA in my third year.

Outside of work

I enjoy any type of exercise be it walking, lifting weights or even aerial yoga. I’m always happy to try something new and fun. I also enjoy travelling, especially to the USA, and my ultimate goal would be to visit all 50 states.
