Meet Sara Wakefield, Hillyer McKeown Solicitor, Conveyancing
For over 10 years, my experience has included all areas of residential conveyancing, and I pride myself on taking time to guide clients through the (sometimes tricky!) process. My expertise comes to the fore in particular when unforeseen circumstances crop up – which I see as an opportunity to use my extensive knowledge and calm approach to move things along whenever I can. This includes keeping clients up to date if the situation is awaiting information from someone else (which can happen with searches), so they are not left wondering where their property purchase or sale is up to.
Additionally, some clients find my local knowledge really helps. Knowing an area can make a real difference, and clients often appreciate this extra insight I can bring when they are buying or selling their home in an area I am familiar with.
I also have the experience to handle more complex matters relating to residential property.
As an example, recently for one client I was able to help navigate them through changing their property over from leasehold to freehold, which was a smoother process than they originally expected.
Similarly, some of our clients want to re-mortgage their home, or a landlord might want legal advice to draft or update their tenancy agreements. I would recommend landlords in particular do this from time to time to make sure their agreements remain up to date, as the law changes on a regular basis.

Outside of work
In my spare time I keep a few pedigree Suffolk sheep, cows and chickens which keep me busy especially at lambing time.
