FAQ: Writing a Will

What are the benefits of having a Will?

Talking about making a Will can be a difficult conversation. Yet a Will is guaranteed to protect you and your loved ones – something most people would want. It also provides the Will-maker with complete peace of mind.

If you are a home owner, have children, have any savings or own anything of sentimental value you would like certain people to have, consider making a Will.

Without a Will, if anything happens to you, the state will decide how your estate (including your possessions) is split up, and where it goes.

What's involved in making a Will?

You set out your wishes which we prepare as a draft document for you to approve. Once approved your Will is completed by being signed and witnessed.

Your Will lasts for the rest of your life, or until you decide to update it when your situation changes (such as getting married or busying a house).

What does it cost and how long does it take?

A Will appointment usually lasts about 45 minutes.

After your Will is completed and posted back we then securely store your Will for you, free and indefinitely. You can update it, or ask for it back it at any time.

A standard Will costs £295 (free for your NHS Hero!)
